Group classes are taught in English/German. You can also request another language for Private Sessions.

Glaze Chemistry

What is a glaze & what is it made of? Develop your own glaze, textures & surfaces to find out!

This class includes theory, measuring, mixing, & glazing. You will learn how to create glaze compositions, read cones, observe your glaze results, as well as how to understand fluxes & the firing process.

A follow up session is scheduled one week after the workshop, for students to discuss the results of their experiments after firing. Students keep their glaze mixtures & glaze tests.

No previous glaze-mixing experience required. However, students should already have some experience applying glaze. (Basic concepts such as wetware, greenware, bisqueware, glazeware is expected to be understood).

Course length: First session 4 hrs, + 1 hour follow-up session (approximately one week later) = 5 hours
